Graduate Student Team Wins First Place at National Geothermal Competition

At the Department of Energy’s 2024 Geothermal Collegiate Competition, Northeastern’s Husky Heat Harvesters team, which is part of the Energy Systems Society, a graduate student organization, won first place in the technical track and an honorable mention for the best video.

The students received a $10,000 prize and competed among 32 teams from across the nation. Team members include Emma Ortiz, MS’26, mechanical engineering; Andreas Gesser, DMSB’26; Chaz Garraway, MS’26, climate science and engineering; Atishey Singh, MS’26, energy systems; Daniel Choroser, MS’26, energy systems; and Mukul Bondade, MS’25, energy systems.
