NSF CAREER Award to Understand How the Nervous System Regulates Gut Inflammation

Assistant Professor Abigail Koppes, chemical engineering, received a $500K NSF CAREER Award, titled ‚ÄúDefining the Regulators of Enteric Plasticity in Engineered Microfluidic Environments.” Her research focuses on developing new, non-invasive methods of exploring human cellular responses to biological signals. She and her team are developing plastic, disposable handheld devices that expose engineered tissue to a range of signals, then measure its response.
