Hande is a post-doctoral research associate at the Healthcare Systems Engineering Institute. Her position includes applied work, research, and mentoring. She is currently working on an applied project with Boston Children’s Hospital under the CMS grant, which focuses on reducing inappropriate utilization of emergency department resources. Hande is currently mentoring several undergraduate and graduate students and is also involved in several research projects including modeling and optimization of screening processes, understanding and preventing leakage (i.e., out-of-system referrals), and predictive modeling to forecast ICU bed demand and staffing. Her hobbies include photography, movies, reading, cooking, biking, and running.
