DESCRIPTION:Join the Galante Engineering Business program for an info session event and learn how you can complement your technical engineering education with business acumen and leadership skill development. \nPlusOne engineering students who enroll in Galante will graduate with an Engineering Business Certificate along with BS and MS degrees\, all without taking any additional coursework. Skills in communications\, public speaking\, leadership\, networking\, and more are also developed via programmatic elements such as leadership roles\, seminars\, workshops\, and corporate events\, among others. \nThere are also multiple exclusive scholarships on offer each year and a guaranteed $1\,000 professional training grant for each student. Galante Fellows are encouraged to network among one another – especially via a mentorship program – and numerous full-time and co-op professional opportunities have been offered to members via a strong alumni network and Industry Networking Council. \nThis event will take place on Thursday April 6th from 6-7pm in Egan Research Center room 440 in a casual setting with pizza provided. This event is a great opportunity to meet current Galante Fellows\, each of whom is dedicated to sharing an overview of a particular component of the program. DESCRIPTION:Please join the Galante Engineering Business Program in welcoming Loredana Padurean\, Associate Professor at D’Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University\, as part of the Galante Seminar Series designed to deliver guided topical discussions\, inspiring stories\, and engaging workshops. \nThe content of this presentation will be in review of the concepts in her new book – The Job is Easy\, the People Are Not – 10 Smart Skills to Become Better People – in which Prof. Loredana Padurean will frame qualities like humility\, adaptability\, and vulnerability as smart — not soft — skills to help leaders manage the most complex of variables: people. The event will feature engaging and interactive discussions in place of workshopping activities in which we will address together the challenges of working with people. \nProf. Loredana Padurean is an award-winning global educator\, entrepreneur\, author and public speaker with experience in Switzerland\, Italy\, India\, Malaysia and USA. Prior to joining Northeastern University she spent 8 years in Kuala Lumpur\, Malaysia as the Senior Associate Dean of a new business school\, Asia School of Business\, a collaboration between the Central Bank of Malaysia. Under her leadership\, the Action Learning program at ASB was recognized repeatedly as one of the most innovative program in the world. \nIn July 2022\, she was the recipient of the “Distinguished Woman Entrepreneur Lifetime Achievement Award” given at the World Women Economic & Business Summit in Kuala Lumpur\, Malaysia. \nAs an MIT Sloan International Faculty Fellow\, Prof. Loredana has taught in various MIT Sloan executive programs such as the Executive Program in General Management (EPGM)\, the MIT Scaling Bootcamp\, Driving Strategic Innovation\, at IMD Lausanne and Cambridge\, MA. DESCRIPTION:Please join the Galante Engineering Business Program in welcoming Northeastern students and BlockBeam co-founders Bennett Thompson and Drew Cousin for a presentation in which they will teach the basics of Blockchain Technology with different applications among different industries. They will also present on BlockBeam\, who’s mission is to develop immersive experiences that make candidates standout and prepare them for their launch into blockchain/fintech careers\, while partnering with leading organizations to create a two-sided model of Web3 technology education and experience-based career advancement. The two will also share opportunities to join BlockBeam and get involved in an immersive summer program with applied learning and networking with professionals across the industry. DESCRIPTION:Please join the Galante Engineering Business Program in welcoming Northeastern and Galante alumni Andrea Dorta\, Technical Program Manager at Amazon Robotics\, along with colleagues and Northeastern alumni Kyle Auger\, Technical Product Manager\, and Jake Holstein\, Sr. Technical Program Manager for an event during which they will provide an overview of Amazon Robotics and management opportunities for FT and Fall 2022 co-ops\, serving as an excellent chance to network and discuss professional development opportunities. There will also be a raffle for Amazon Robotics prizes and gear. \nAndrea Dorta (LinkedIn) is a Technical Program Manager at Amazon Robotics working cross-functionally supporting the launch of state of the art robotics warehouses. Andrea graduated in May 2020 with a Bachelors in Industrial Engineering\, Masters in Engineering Management and a Galante Certificate in Engineering Business. Throughout her 5 years at Northeastern\, Andrea was the VP of Operations of the IISE NEU chapter\, Leadership Development Manager at the International Hispanic Student Club\, and College of Engineering Peer Mentor and Tutor. She completed 3 co-ops\, two of them in the Boston area (Bose and Amazon Robotics) and one in Munich\, Germany as a Prestigious International Scholar. After graduation\, Andrea joined Amazon Robotics as a Technical Program Manager where she has planned and executed large-scale cross functional projects in the US\, European Union and Japan. \nKyle Auger (LinkedIn) is a Technical Product Manager II at Amazon Robotics working in Software’s Robotic Navigation team. Kyle is an alumni of D’Amore-McKim School of Business and graduated in 2018 with a degree in Finance and a minor in Economics. He participated in NEU’s summer program at London School of Economics and completed three co-ops in his four and half years\, one in real estate and two at Amazon. After graduation\, Kyle was hired as a Business Analyst and has worked at Amazon for 4+ years in various roles across the Robotics organization\, including supply chain\, industrial engineering\, and software. \nJake Holstein (LinkedIn) is a Senior Technical Program Manager at Amazon Robotics working cross functionally to improve the robotic product development process. Jake graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree from Northeastern in 2016 with minors in business and math. While at Northeastern\, he was a founder and president of Enabling Engineering working to improve the day-to-day lives of people with disabilities. After graduation\, Jake joined Amazon Robotics on their deployment team installing robotics worldwide\, transitioned to process engineering in 2018\, and to program management in 2020.
