COE Climate-Health Scorecard Gains National Attention

Melanie Marino, PhD'28, civil and environmental engineering, presenting key findings.

Research from CEE Professor Matthew Eckelman’s group on climate change and the American healthcare system, which was presented during NYC Climate Week, was featured on Good Morning America and several public radio stations and newspapers. The Commonwealth Fund State Scorecard on Climate, Health, and Health Care report finds that states with strong clean energy and energy efficiency policies and low environmental health risks perform better than states with weaker policies and greater vulnerability to climate hazards. Melanie Marino, PhD’28, civil and environmental engineering, presented the key findings during NYC Climate Week at a dedicated panel at the New York Academy of Medicine—a session that Eckelman moderated and included current and past commissioners of public health of NYC and several states.
