BioE Student Receives 2026 Hodgkinson Award

Andrew WIlliam Lynch, E’26, bioengineering and biochemistry, is the recipient of a Harold D. Hodgkinson Achievement Award for 2026, one of the highest honors a senior can receive.

Lynch is a Bioengineering and Biochemistry student with a passion for surgery, translational research, and education: specifically, how disease at the molecular level shapes surgery, what engineering could do to push the limits of current therapies, and how we teach medicine to the next generation. Lynch has pursued these questions across Boston Children’s Hospital, where he studied stem cell-derived beta cell grafts, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he contributes to colorectal and heart transplant clinical research, works as a cardiac telemetry technician, assists in heart transplant procedures, and founded a program connecting students with clinical and research opportunities in colorectal surgery. In his free time, Lynch loves to hike and is a member of Northeastern’s Running Club.
