ChE Student Receives 2026 Condit Award
Grace Autumn Jansen, E’28, chemical engineering, won the Sears B. Condit Award, which is awarded annually to one student from each of Northeastern’s undergraduate day colleges and is one of the highest honors that a junior or senior at Northeastern University can receive.
Jansen is pursuing a double major in Chemical Engineering and Philosophy with a concentration in Sustainability and Energy. She is committed to advancing clean energy technology through rigorous engineering while engaging in critical reflection on what we build and why. Her research in Prof. Gallaway’s ACES Lab has focused on Zn/MnO₂ batteries as a sustainable alternative to lithium-ion storage — work which she presented at the 2025 AAAS Conference. As an Electrochemical Engineering co-op at SiTration, she designed and operated novel flow systems and conducted extensive electrochemical testing. Outside the lab, Jansen has solo thru-hiked over 1,100 miles of long-distance trails.
