COE Co-op Recognizes Six Employer Partners
The College of Engineering Co-op team reinstated our Employer Awards this year to honor those employers who have gone above and beyond for our students during the 2019-2020 academic year. The six employer awardees include: Insulet, NASA JPL, Dragonfly, DN Tanks, Acacia and Faithful and Gould.
These six employer partners demonstrated a major commitment to the co-op program including consistent hiring, high engagement and strong student experiences.
Insulet hired its first four co-op students in 2013 and has continued hiring each year since then, steadily increasing the number of students they hire each cycle. Insulet recently reshored a manufacturing operation at their headquarters in Acton, MA and have hired 21 Engineering Management students to help with this endeavor.
NASA JPL has hired at least 85 co-op students since 2008, and have sponsored 2-3 capstone projects per term in recent years. Despite their geographic location in California, they have been represented well on campus in presentations to student clubs and conferences.
As a small startup, Dragonfly has hired 17 co-op students since 2017 in addition to making full-time offers and participating in employer panels and on-campus recruiting events.
DN Tanks has been employing co-op students since 1978 and to date they have hosted over 166 students. They are very involved with the CEE department through panel presentations, on-campus events and support to EWB-NEU, both in technical mentorship and donations to the student chapter.
Faithful and Gould in Singapore is recognized for their inclusivity with their co-op students. A small branch, they include their students in outings, lunches and are treated like family by the team.
Acacia began as a co-op employer with 1 posting and hire FA18, with multiple co-op hires each subsequent cycle, including 7 hires for FA20. Their first co-op student in FA18 continued to work there part time after her co-op, and still serves to this day as the company’s ambassador in answering student questions.
Congratulations to each of these winners for their strong contributions to COE co-op!
