Developing Products with Clarity and Impact

Arundhati Bandopadhyaya, MS’26, software engineering systems, has developed incredible and innovative projects that make a huge impact. Bandopadhyaya aspires to be a software engineer; her coursework and career-advancing co-op experience have elevated her skills to allow her to reach her career ambitions.
Arundhati Bandopadhyaya is a current student in the MS in software engineering systems program. She earned her bachelor’s degree in electronics & telecommunication engineering from Symbiosis Institute of Technology, India. She also worked at Persistent Systems as a software engineer, where she contributed to building enterprise-scale backend and frontend solutions.
Bandopadhyaya’s decision to join Northeastern came as she sought a transition into advanced software engineering with a focus on AI and cloud technologies. The co-op program and highly rated courses such as “Network Structures & Cloud Computing” and “Advanced Cloud Computing” influenced her choice, as they aligned perfectly with her aspiration to become a cloud-native software engineer.
The curriculum has closely aligned with her professional goals, providing her with the opportunity to take top-rated cloud computing courses like “Network Structures & Cloud Computing” and “Advanced Cloud Computing”, the very courses that initially drew her to Northeastern. Additionally, “Object-Oriented Design” with Adjunct Professor Daniel Peters, “Web Design & User Experience Testing” with Adjunct Professor Vishal Chawla and “Program Structures & Algorithms” with Adjunct Professor Sid Nath had a lasting impact, sharpening her ability to design and structure scalable systems.
Bandopadhyaya secured a co-op at Prioriwise as a full-stack developer. The Boston-based startup offered her the opportunity to contribute across both development and marketing. On the engineering side, she built eight customer-facing features and helped refine the in-house AI agent, “Jija”. On the marketing side, she supported content strategy through research-based blog posts and LinkedIn campaigns. Notably, one of the features she worked on was later showcased at the MIT Women’s Summit 2025, representing the perfect blend of coursework, experiential learning and industry application that Northeastern has enabled for her.
The co-op at Prioriwise provided Bandopadhyaya with hands-on experience applying classroom learning to real-world problems. She worked on AI-powered productivity features, including an Outcome Decision Tree, recurring task automation and workflow tools, which strengthened her skills in full-stack development and AI integration. She is especially grateful to Associate Co-op Coordinator Debbie Steiner Hayes, who mentored her throughout the co-op season, helping her connect classroom learning with professional readiness.
Projects and Innovations:
As part of her coursework, Bandopadhyaya worked on full-stack projects such as a resume builder app and a corporate mental-health platform. For personal projects, she developed a Sentiment Analyzer Web App using HuggingFace APIs and a library management system with AI-driven recommendations. A key challenge was balancing scalability with usability, which she addressed through efficient database design and iterative testing.
Outside the Classroom
While Bandopadhyaya hasn’t participated in hackathons yet, she has attended networking events such as the MIT Women’s Summit, Venture Café sessions, Northeastern career fairs, AI Woodstock and AI Tinkerers. These experiences exposed her to diverse perspectives on AI, startups and career growth. A common thread across these events was exploring how AI can simplify workflows and empower people, which strongly resonates with the kinds of projects she develops.
Future Perspective
Bandopadhyaya aspires to become a software engineer at a consumer-first, AI-driven, cloud-powered company, building products that deliver clarity and impact at scale. Northeastern has allowed her to combine a strong academic foundation in cloud and software systems with real-world co-op experience, shaping her into a confident, industry-ready engineer. The mentorship, coursework and experiential learning she sought at Northeastern have validated her decision to join the program and given her the confidence to pursue ambitious goals in tech.
