ECE Associate Professor Melodia "Making A Splash" In The News

ECE Associate Professor Tommaso Melodia is in the news this week thanks to his pioneering research into subaquatic Wi-Fi.

The Boston Herald today reports on Professor Melodia's groundbreaking efforts to bring wireless data transmission under water. “This technology enables you to have a signal on a boat saying this is the location on the scuba diver, to enable voice communications amongst divers and monitor underwater activities of small submarines smuggling illegal substances,” Melodia told the paper.

A recent addition to the Northeastern Faculty, Prof. Melodia arrived in August from SUNY Buffalo and has already won a $300,000 NSF grant to help fund his research.

More information about his research, and the full text of today's article, can be found at the Boston Herald website.
