Jaeger named Acting Director of Galante Engineering Business Program

Dr. Beverly ‘Kris’ Jaeger, a Senior Academic Specialist in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MIE), has been named the Acting Director of the Galante Engineering Business Program. This program, established through the generosity of COE Alumnus, Edward G. Galante E’73, has been redesigned and is being relaunched. It will provide an opportunity for our undergraduate engineers to apply to earn an M.S. in Engineering Management, and use credits from that M.S. toward an MBA at the D’Amore-McKim School of Business. Co-curricular activities (workshops, professional development opportunities, seminars, and speaker events) will enhance the experience of those enrolled in the program.

Kris earned her M.S. in Biomechanics and her Ph.D. in 2001 in Industrial Engineering from Northeastern. She then joined the College of Engineering full-time as a Gateway Faculty and served as Associate Director of the Virtual Environments Laboratory in MIE, where she conducted research and advised graduate students. On the Gateway Faculty, she focused her efforts on curriculum innovation, project development, and First-year Program coordination with Gateway colleagues.  In 2012, she transitioned to the MIE faculty where she has developed high-profile Capstone projects and supervised several successful Capstone Design teams. Recently, Dr. Jaeger has been appointed the Director of Senior Capstone Design in Industrial Engineering.  She is a member of ASME, HFES, IIE, SAE, and ASEE, where she is the Division Chair for the New Engineering Educators Division. She also serves as the ASEE Campus Representative to Northeastern University. Kris has published her work through ASEE, winning over a dozen Best Paper and Best Presentation awards with her co-authors, including Best Overall Conference Paper in 2010 across 50 Divisions.

She has been recognized for her outstanding mentoring and teaching through COE Excellence in Mentoring Award and Martin W. Essigmann Outstanding Teaching Award.  In addition, she has received three COE Outstanding Teacher of First-Year Engineering Students Awards.

Kris is a dedicated and innovative engineering educator who brings extensive experience to this position. Please join me in congratulating and thanking Kris for taking on this leadership role.
