CEE Professor Peter Furth was awarded a grant from the Helen and William Mazer Foundation for a proposal entitled “Low-Stress Bicycle Network Planning: New Methods for Network Analysis and Improvement, with Application in Greater Boston.” It will support the work he’s been doing on mapping and evaluating Boston’s bicycle network, developing new, graph-theory-based methods for identifying and characterizing barriers in low-stress bike networks as well as new methods for measuring bike-based accessibility to jobs, schools, and recreational facilities.
