Precipitation modeling for critical infrastructures risks

Prof. Auroop Ganguly has been awarded a $55,000 grant from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for probabilistic modeling of precipitation for risk assessments of critical nuclear infrastructure. The research includes a characterization of intensity-duration-frequency curves of precipitation under climate variability or change as well as understanding space-time trends in precipitation extremes. New work has been initiated in developing hydrological downscaling strategies that can effectively inform high-resolution statistical models of precipitation with the physics of larger-scale variability in weather and climate. Congratulations to Prof. Ganguly!
