About
Mr. Usama is a postdoc research associate in Civil Engineering with a focus on Transportation. He holds degrees in Civil Engineering and Transportation Engineering from universities in United States, Pakistan and China. With a background as a railroad engineer and lecturer, his research interests include Intelligent Transportation systems, traffic state estimation, Traffic emission modelling, vehicle routing problem, and railway engineering. Mr. Usama has received awards for academic and research excellence, including the Mary Maikima and Lester M. Ross, Senior, Scholarship Award at UAH. He has published in reputable journals, presented at conferences, and is dedicated to advancing transportation science.

Transit Mobility Lab
With increased urbanization, providing for mobility is an issue that cities around the world are struggling to deal with. Transit is becoming an increasingly important means of addressing urban mobility issues. Professors Koutsopoulos, from the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Northeastern University, and Zhao and Wilson from the MIT Transit Lab and the MIT Urban Mobility Lab have formed the Transit Mobility Lab in order to promote innovation in public transportation.
