As an undergraduate centered chapter, Northeastern AIChE focuses around enriching the education of chemical engineers and providing them with extra-curricular instruction. They provide weekly meetings which cater to developing professional skills as well as promoting a healthy balance of learning and relaxation. Northeastern AIChE also helps to foster relationships between students, providing help for classes and life. In brief, AIChE tries to improve the quality of life for Chemical Engineers at Northeastern University.
AIChE fosters connections between employers and students by having meetings that introduce Co-op positions and allows companies to share exactly what the Co-op position entails. At these meetings students are free to talk to their prospective employers and form all-important personal connections even before entering into the hiring process. There is also an annual Co-op mixer in which corporations attend for the sole reason of forming professional connections on a small scale.
The Northeastern University AIChE also contains the Chemical Engineering Car team (ChemEcar), which competes in a national competition to build and construct a chemically powered vehicle. The vehicle has strict size restraints and must safely carry a specified cargo. To become a member of the Northeastern ChemEcar group, or even stop by and just check out what’s new, attend one of their upcoming meetings, which are open to all Chemical Engineers.
