Position 1: Advanced Structural Engineering Design

Support the design, detailing and administration of commercial buildings including: working with design and production software, preparing construction documents, administering construction activities such as submittal review and construction administration correspondence.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Use Revit Structure software to Model 3D structures
  • Create plans, sections, and column schedules using AutoCAD and Visual Analysis
  • Assist with the design of 2-way reinforced concrete slabs using PCA Slab software
  • Use Risa 3D software to perform lateral analyses on structures
  • Perform structural analysis and review lateral resisting system of buildings in RAM
  • Use Woodworks software to analyze and design wood-framed buildings/structures
  • Meet with clients to address specific issues on projects

Required Specific Skills/Abilities:

  • Completion of upper level structural engineering courses including concrete and steel design, advanced structural analysis
  • Prior experience Revit Structural System and AutoCAD
  • GPA > 3.400

 


Position 2: Transit & Rail Design Assistant

Provide planning, design, and engineering assistance for the Transit and Rail Design Group of a large transportation and land development civil engineering firm.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Assist in the production of high speed intercity passenger rail federal grant applications
  • Produce ANRAD plans for cities and towns demonstrating the wetland delineation for proposed passenger rail projects
  • Perform drainage calculations for a number of commuter rail station layout plans using Excel and AutoCAD
  • Create graphics for both client and public involvement meetings to determine the construction impacts of proposed transit extension projects using PowerPoint
  • Draft proposed alignments for rail improvement projects including construction details for drainage utilities using AutoCAD and Land Desktop
  • Create and edit project cross sections, profiles, and typical sections
  • Update master schedule for a multi million dollar project as changes were made
  • Assist with the development of train schedules for inter-state rail expansion projects
  • Develop detailed write-ups of transportation studies
  • Compose figures/graphics to supplement Environmental Analysis reports
  • Proof-read documents for grammatical errors, flow, and formatting

Required Specific Skills/Abilities:

  • Interest in transportation planning and engineering
  • Third year standing in the civil engineering program
  • Excel and AutoCAD experience helpful
  • Ability to quickly learn civil engineering software including Land Desktop

Position 3: Highway Design Assistant

Provide design, and engineering assistance for the Highway Design Group of a national civil engineering consulting firm specializing in large municipal transportation projects.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Create in-depth construction phasing plans, estimates, and schedules for several proposed alternatives for complex highway projects using Microsoft Project
  • Draft alignments, profiles, and cross sections for various roadway design projects as well as temporary roads for construction to determine feasibility using AutoCAD and Microstation
  • Perform quantity takeoffs for highway projects using MassDOT nomenclature and formatting to create specific construction estimates
  • Edit of highway cross-sections, plans, and project layouts using AutoCAD
  • Some local travel required to document and photograph existing site conditions
  • Collect property ownership data in Massachusetts for public transit extension projects

Required Specific Skills/Abilities:

  • Interest in transportation and highway design

Position 4: Highway/Bridge Engineering Assistant

Provide design, and engineering assistance for the Highway Design Group of a national civil engineering consulting firm specializing in large municipal transportation projects and bridge evaluation and redesign.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Assist with shop drawing review and project document management
  • Assist with load rating analysis using VIRTIS software
  • Perform routine inspections for rating reports of tunnel overhead panels, telecom sites, and bridges
  • Edit of highway cross-sections, plans, and project layouts using AutoCAD
  • Developed CAD drawings for use with the telecom department

Required Specific Skills/Abilities:

  • Completion of upper level structural engineering courses including concrete and steel design, advanced structural analysis

Position 5: Highway Design Assistant

Work as part of an engineering team that provides strategic consulting, planning, engineering, and program and construction management services to both public and private sector clients. Active in multiple market sectors, including transportation, power, buildings/facilities, water/wastewater, environmental, and urban/community development.

Position 6: Assistant Field Engineer

Provide field, office and engineering support large construction firm specializing in municipal projects including bridges, water delivery systems, and buildings.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Prepared reports, submittals, and transmittals using Expedition
  • Completed as-built AutoCAD drawings for entire contract conforming to specifications
  • Conducted field calculations, time tracking and cost impacts
  • Calculated quantity take-offs for concrete placements, material excavation, equipment returns
  • Coordinated with suppliers to gather needed technical information and price quotes
  • Supervised daily site photos and associated contract obligations
  • Responsible for RFI interpretation, cataloging, and postings

Position 7: Assistant Project Engineer

Provide engineering support using an in-house AutoCAD system and state-of-the-art engineering software for generation of design drawings and specifications which promotes a highly accurate and efficient process. Our civil engineers are highly qualified in the computer analysis and design of water, sewer and stormwater management systems and transportation projects. Services include civil engineering design and permitting, land surveying, land planning and construction phase services.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Design and plan local residential and commercial site development
  • Perform extensive drafting with AutoCAD, Mcolor, and AutoTurn
  • Coordinate with PEs and other project engineers on variety of company projects
  • Survey roadway layouts, wetlands flags, as-built, and stakeouts
  • Organize and use design information from municipal and state offices
  • Perform field soil testing with data logging and interpretation

Position 8: Scheduling Intern

Work with a general contracting, construction management and design/build firm. Projects include both new constructions and renovation for the following market sectors: Educational, Health Care, Hospitality, Residential, Commercial, Institutional, Telecommunications.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Work with project teams to develop, update, and maintain project schedules with Primavera 6.2, Primavera 3.1, and Microsoft Project
  • Develop and maintain resource loaded staffing schedule tracking the movement of all operational employee’s in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions of the company
  • Produce weekly staffing reports indicating the workforce on each project as well as the forecasted staffing for future and pending projects
  • Draft proposal and baseline schedules for bid packages
  • Collaborate with project teams and clients to create presentations for claim litigations
  • Produce company reports including weekly schedule trend reports, weather analysis reports, percent complete reports, and various SOP compliance reports

Required Specific Skills/Abilities:

  • Completion of engineering measurements, completion of Construction Management helpful
  • Interest in construction and project management
