Graduate Student Services Escalation Pathway
If you are struggling to find a solution to an issue that falls under academic advising by working with your Advisor, please follow the steps below to escalate your case to the next level of leadership within Graduate Student Services.
Please note that if you escalate yourself outside of this pathway your concerns will be redirected to follow the published pathway. Going outside the pathway may cause delays in the resolution of your concerns. Your advising team is here to support you however we can and will assist you in escalating as needed.
Please note it is the responsibility of the student to adhere to the Code of Student Conduct in all your communications with student services.
It is recognized that all members of an academic community, individually and collectively, have a right to express their views publicly on any issue; however, the University insists that all such expressions be peaceful and orderly, conducted in a manner consistent with the Code and University policies, and in such a way that University business and respectful academic discourse are not unduly disrupted Any bullying, harassment, or derogatory language is not tolerated under the code of student conduct.
- Step 1
- Sometimes, things can get lost in translation via email. If you have not done so already, please start this process by scheduling a call with your Advisor to discuss your concerns.
- You may schedule an appointment with your Advisor through Navigate.
- You can find your Advisor listed on your student portal, please reach out to coe-gradadvising@northeastern.edu if you are not sure who your Advisor is or are not sure how to set an appointment.
- If you can’t schedule an appointment with your advisor for any reason, please send an email to coe-gradadvising@northeastern.edu with the subject line “Requesting to Escalate”
- Step 2
- If your concerns cannot be resolved by your Academic Advisor, you can request to escalate to the next level of leadership within student services.
- Please ask to escalate with your Academic Advisor, and someone from the next level of leadership will contact you within 2 business days to discuss your concerns.
- Please note that your assigned Advisor may be a Senior Advisor or Assistant Director, but you can still escalate from your assigned Advisor if you’re not able to resolve your concerns with them directly.
- Step 3
- Work with the next level of leadership to resolve your concerns.
