New Computer Purchasing Procedure
All computers must now be ordered through Workday. For assistance with specifications or for models/servers not available on Workday, please contact us at coehelp@northeastern.edu.
With the numerous changes in Procurement related to the Workday Finance transition, the acquisition of technology equipment is changing at Northeastern University. University ITS has reached an agreement with SHI to offer 3 grades of standardized laptops from both Dell and Apple, which aligns with the enhanced technology needs of most COE faculty and staff. By working from a standardized device, faculty and staff should benefit from a greatly improved quality of technology service, both from University ITS staff and Engineering Computer Center staff.

That said, University ITS is aware that there is still a need for non-standardized devices, particularly servers and high-end desktops. They have developed a form in ServiceNow to allow quote requests to be sent directly to SHI. When SHI develops a quote, it will be available to the requesting individual accessing the SHI portal through Workday’s Procurement system. Once a quote is available, it can be reviewed and, if necessary, modified; once all parties are in agreement, the requester submits directly through the aforementioned SHI portal.
Before submitting a request with this form, it is highly recommended that you speak with a technology specialist, either at University ITS or the Engineering Computer Center! This is both to make sure that your needs cannot be met with a standardized device and to make sure you know what information should be included when filling out said form.

Please make sure to change the Technology Type dropdown as appropriate (servers or non-standard computers in most cases). In the Description field, please include as much detail as possible concerning your proposed device, including any specifications for the hardware you have in mind. The more detailed information you can provide, the more accurate SHI can be in constructing an initial quote.
