The year 2024 marks 115 years of cooperative education at Northeastern University, and it all started in the College of Engineering! To celebrate, a variety of events took place in Boston and at campuses across Northeastern’s global university network. Alumni, students, faculty, staff, and families came together to reminisce, reconnect, and help propel the power of co-op for generations to come.
Experience a Recap of the Celebration
Relive the co-op 115 celebration engineering and university events for alumni, employers, students, faculty, staff, and families at the Boston campus during Homecoming 2024. The COE Careers Beyond Co-op event welcomed employers, alums, and students, and was followed by a university employer luncheon. The College of Engineering Open House included a student group showcase and engineering lab tours, and was followed by the university celebration. Events were also held at Northeastern campuses across the U.S.

To celebrate a series of events for alumni, employers, students, faculty, staff, and families took place across the global university network, culminating in Boston during Homecoming Weekend in November.
‘Careers Beyond Co-op’ Event Brings Together Employers With Alums and Students
The College of Engineering co-op team hosted the 2024 Careers Beyond Co-op event during the 115 years of co-op celebration, which took place during Homecoming Weekend. The interactive event united alums and current students with co-op employer partners for a day of sharing career journeys and co-op’s impact.
Co-ops Lay Foundation for Accomplished Raytheon Career
Co-op enabled James Sweeney, E’66, electrical engineering, to earn as he pursued a degree with work relevant to his chosen field and taught him important people skills that helped him navigate professional relationships during his over 40-year career at Raytheon.
