Anjana Nandam, MS’25, information systems, built a vibrant career foundation at the intersection of product operations, user experience, and business process innovation, fueled by a passion for simplifying complex systems and driving meaningful change.

Before joining Northeastern, Nandam shaped her early career at Amazon in India, where she served as a product operations specialist and later as a product operations lead. Her work there spanned streamlining metadata management processes, automating product testing workflows, and leading cross-functional initiatives using AWS, QuickSight, and agile practices—earning her recognition through multiple awards for efficiency and leadership.

Nandam chose to further her studies at Northeastern due to its strong emphasis on bridging technical skills with business impact. The flexibility of the curriculum and courses aligned perfectly with her career goal of building and scaling internal products that make operations smarter and more user-centric. She thoughtfully curated her academic journey, taking courses like Application Engineering and Development, Data Management and Database Design, Software Quality Control and Management, and Business Process Engineering.

She credits faculty members like Kal Bugrara, whose course strengthened her understanding of system-level application building, and Shannon Pettiford, whose agile, hands-on class made business process optimization feel alive and actionable.

Nandam also gained invaluable experience through her role as a program assistant for the Multidisciplinary Graduate Engineering (MGEN) department, where she worked closely with Erin Macri, the associate director of academic operations. In this role, Nandam helped manage front desk operations, supported data clean-up for curriculum across Northeastern’s network campuses, and coordinated events such as the MGEN Awards, career fairs, Innovation Showcase, and office gatherings. The opportunity to collaborate with co-op advisors and observe their dedication to student success served as a powerful source of motivation for her own journey.

Beyond the classroom, Nandam found a true home in Northeastern’s student community. She served as president of Husky Systers Code, where she redefined leadership roles, launched coding study groups, organized career-building events, and fostered a more inclusive environment for women in tech.

She also played a key role in major student organizations like the Aspiring Product Managers Club as the VP of operations, managing events like Protothon and Product Conference, and elevating the experience for aspiring product managers.

Nandam’s project work reflects her instinct for balancing technology with empathy. She led the redesign of the Zara e-commerce platform, using journey mapping, gap analysis, and UX testing to enhance customer engagement and streamline the shopping experience. She also developed a healthcare database management system focused on improving patient and doctor management while minimizing scheduling errors—a project that highlighted her ability to architect scalable, real-world solutions through thoughtful design and technical precision.

Her active participation in organizing hackathon-style events, coding competitions, and leadership experiences at Northeastern have further sharpened her skills in collaboration, innovation, and people-first problem-solving. She attributes much of her growth to the ecosystem of encouragement created by the university’s curriculum, student clubs, and faculty mentors.

Looking ahead, Nandam aspires to drive product innovations at the intersection of operations and data, focusing especially on observability, data ops, and operational excellence. In any tech space, she aims to be the voice that simplifies processes, uplifts users, and leads projects that make a real-world impact—not just as a technician, but as a builder, strategist, and change agent.
