Engineers Without Borders Honors Northeastern Chapter
Engineers Without Borders (EWB-USA) selected the Northeastern University chapter of Engineers Without Borders (EWB-NEU) as a premiere chapter. Only seven chapters, out of more than 250, receive this prestigious recognition at the EWB-USA International Conference. EWB-NEU has done extraordinary work designing and constructing a water delivery system in Los Planes, Honduras and a water delivery system for villages in El Chaguite, Honduras and Bbanda, Uganda.
Northeastern’s Engineers Without Borders group was selected as a 2009 EWB-USA Premiere Chapter and will be receiving an award at the 2010 International Conference in Denver. Only seven chapters are chosen each year out of EWB's 250+ chapters.
EWB USA-NEU aids communities in developing countries by using engineering solutions to address basic human needs, such as the need for potable water – all the while supplying their student members with educational, transformative experiences. Since their establishment in 2004, they have designed and constructed water projects in six communities in Honduras and Uganda, affecting over 2,000 individuals. Students are continually drawn to EWB USA-NEU with the goal of helping societies in need, while gaining firsthand experience in all phases of the engineering design process.
