Niedre awarded $400K grant

ECE Assistant Professor, Mark Niedre, received a NIH grant for his research project "Tomographic In Vivo Flow Cytometer for Counting Rare Circulating Cells".

Professor Mark Niedre established the Biomedical Optics Research Laboratory in 2008 at Northeastern University. It exists to study the application of optical engineering to biomedicine.  By nature the field is highly inter-disciplinary and requires the integration of diverse backgrounds such as optical design, software and hardware engineering, image reconstruction, biology, chemistry and medicine. Niedre received his Post-Doctoral Fellowship from Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital from 2005-2008. His Ph.D. in Medical Biophysics was received from the University of Toronto in 2005, and his BA in Engineering Physics is from McMaster University, received in 1998.
