Research Focus
optimization of structures and components for a circular economy and climate resilience with a focus on composite materials, advanced manufacturing, uncertainty analysis, and applied AI; applications include the wind industry, energy-efficient construction, managing extreme weather events, orthopedic implants.
About
Prior to joining Northeastern in March 2022, Nathan was at WindESCo, Inc., where he was most recently the Senior Director of Research and Development. Prior to that he was an Engineer at the Wind Technology Testing Center as part of the National Renewable Energy Center. He has also been a Project Engineer for Fraunhofer IWES in Germany.
Nathan’s expertise is in experimental mechanics, data acquisition and analytics, machine learning, and uncertainty estimation. At the Roux Institute of where he is located at Northeastern, Nathan is focusing his research efforts on the intersection of mechanics of materials and machine learning with applications in advanced additive manufacturing, renewable energy, and energy efficiency materials and structures.
