Single Cell Protein Analysis for Precision Medicine
nside Precision Medicine published an article entitled “Untangling the Complexities of Single Cell Protein Analysis” that highlights the latest research from the team of Allen Distinguished Investigator and BioE Associate Professor Nikolai Slavov. The research was conducted in the Slavov Laboratory by doctoral students Andrew Leduc, Jason Derks, and colleagues.

Inaugural AJC Merit Research Scholars for Research Co-ops at Northeastern
Several engineering and science students mentored by COE faculty are recipients of the inaugural AJC Merit Research Scholars from Northeastern’s Office of Undergraduate Research and Fellowships. It provides exceptional students with the opportunity to pursue STEM research co-ops in the laboratories of Northeastern University faculty.

Regenerating Major Nerve Injuries With a Different Type of Stem Cell
ChE Assistant Professor Ryan Koppes is developing methods of converting olfactory stem cells into Schwann Cells that can be used to repair nerve damage. He received a Spark Fund award from Northeastern’s Center for Research Innovation for this work.

WIoT Team Wins First Prize at IEEE Advanced Air Mobility – Concepts Innovation Challenge
A team of researchers with the Institute for the Wireless Internet of Things (WIoT) consisting of computer engineering students Matteo Bordin, PhD’26, and Pietro Brach Del Prever, PhD’27, and led by ECE Research Assistant Professor Salvatore D’Oro, won first prize at the IEEE Advanced Air Mobility – Concepts Innovation Challenge.

BioE Students Filed Provisional Patent for a Breast Implant Design that Mimics Natural Bodies
Breast implants in the 21st century provoke images of popular culture beauty icons, but their importance surpasses societal status throughout the worlds of biomedical engineering and plastic surgery. Last Spring, bioengineering student group realized a gap in the market of breast implants. They worked together to create an implant that mimics natural bodies and recently received a provisional patent for the design.
