Redefining an Engineering Career With an MS in Cyber Physical Systems
Jeffrey Machyo, MS’23, cyber physical systems, decided to shift gears to the embedded systems field when he was working as an electrical engineer at an electric power company in Kenya. At Northeastern, he completed a co-op at Desktop Metal, which gave him hands-on experience with programable devices and set him up for a successful career change.

Sherman Center Venture Co-op: Sari Finn
Engineering student Sari Finn created JoyVine, which is a community-centric search engine that serves to provide young adults with a fulfilling, faith-based community. The platform serves to connect individuals to Christian communities based on their geographical area, providing a space for them to cultivate their relationship with God in a like-minded community.

Hyun Lee, E’23, environmental engineering and health sciences, was nominated for the Churchill-Kanders Scholarship, which was established in 2017 to address the growing divide between science and public policy by funding a Master’s in Public Policy at Cambridge University.

Computer Engineering PhD Student Wins ACM/IEEE CS George Michael Memorial HPC Fellowship
Rohan Basu Roy, PhD’24, computer engineering, won the prestigious ACM/IEEE CS George Michael Memorial HPC Fellowship for enhancing the productivity of computational scientists and environmental sustainability of high performance computing with novel methods and tools exploiting cloud computing and on-premise HPC resources.

Students Partner With Walmart Canada To Implement AI Solutions
Students at Northeastern Toronto, including MS information systems students, participated in a hackathon with Walmart Canada to use AI to develop tools to help the retailer determine what products to stock and sell amid space constraints. Winning teams were accepted into a four-week incubator program to refine and implement their ideas.
