NSF PFI Grant To Integrate AR Technologies Into Stroke Rehabilitation
ECE Associate Professor Sarah Ostadabbas, in collaboration with the University of Pittsburgh and Myomo, Inc., secured a $550,000 NSF grant for their project titled “PFI-RP: Augmented Reality and Electroencephalography for Detecting, Assessing, and Rehabilitating Visual Unilateral Neglect in Stroke Patients.” It aims to create a comprehensive tool for detecting, assessing, and rehabilitating neglect in stroke patients.

Chowdhury and Jornet Elevated to IEEE Fellows
ECE Professors Kaushik Chowdhury and Josep Jornet were elevated to IEEE Fellows. Chowdhury was elevated for contributions to the development of cognitive radio networks and applied machine learning for wireless systems, and Jornet for contributions in terahertz communication and nanonetworking.

Building a Sustainable Future Through Global Education
During his fellowship, First-Year Engineering Teaching Professor Bala Maheswaran embarked on a month-long project at ATINER in Athens, Greece, where he researched the theme of global education. As a result of his efforts, he delivered a presentation to visiting educators from Georgia State University and submitted a paper to the Athens Journal of Education, addressing the pivotal theme of “Building a Sustainable Future through Global Education.”

She built an ECG, created a game exhibited at the Boston Children’s Museum, and worked on transportation systems at Jacobs Engineering.
