PhD Spotlight: Guillem Reus-Muns, PhD’23, Computer Engineering
Guillem Reus-Muns, PhD’23, computer engineering, led a NSF project on applied machine learning for wireless, and his work resulted in several foundational discoveries that will shape next-generation wireless standards. He has published in IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Networks, IEEE Transactions on Networking, and IEEE Sensors. He published a total of 14 peer-reviewed research papers and submitted two patents. Following graduation, Reus-Muns joined Apple, as a wireless systems engineer.

PhD Spotlight: Caterina Bartomeu Garcia, PhD’22, Chemical Engineering
Caterina Bartomeu Garcia, PhD’22, chemical engineering, focused her research on the development of novel drug delivery systems for the treatment of brain infections such as bacterial meningitis. She had a publication in the International Journal of Nanomedicine, and five peer-review publications. She is now a scientist at Repertoire Immune Medicines.

PhD Spotlight: Sarah Sanchez, PhD’23, Civil and Environmental Engineering
Sarah Sanchez earned her BS, in civil engineering, MS in engineering and public policy, and PhD in civil and environmental engineering. She was awarded the Strategic Advancement of Rising Scholars (STARS) Fellowship funded by the National Science Foundation for her PhD studies.
