Developing Advanced Genetic Engineering Methods

ChE Assistant Professor Benjamin Woolston’s proposal for “Development of a Robust Genome Engineering Toolbox for the Model Acetogen Eubacterium limosum” was accepted by the DOE’s Joint Genome Institute’s Community Science Program. Through this award, his group will receive ~500 kilobases of synthetic DNA to develop advanced genetic engineering methods for reprogramming this microbe for the renewable production of fuels, commodity chemicals, and natural products from sustainable feedstocks.
