Harry Brodsky, who will be graduating with a BS in mechanical engineering as well as a combined geology & physics BS degree next spring, spent part of his summer 3,300 meters beneath the ocean’s surface in the submarine Alvin studying deep-sea rocks.

Gallaway Receives $104K ESS Grant
ChE Assistant Professor Josh Gallaway’s group received a one-year, $104k grant from the Energy Storage Systems (ESS) program at Sandia National Lab for “Understanding Phase Change Processes of Energy Storage Materials,” which will support a collaboration between the Gallaway group and Dr. Timothy Lambert in the Department of Materials, Devices and Energy Technologies at Sandia.

Professor Mi and PhD Students Win Best Paper at IEEE CLOUD 2018
ECE Associate Professor Ningfang Mi and two of her PhD students, Janki Bhimani and Zhengyu Yang, were awarded the 11th IEEE International Conference on Cloud Computing (IEEE CLOUD 2018) Best Paper, “FIOS: Feature Based I/O Stream Identification for Improving Endurance of Multi-Stream SSDs.”
