About
John Bleakney has been a co-op advisor within the College of Engineering since January 2017. He received his PMP in 2017 years ago and has approximately 10 years’ experience working in project management mostly in the financial services industry where he has approximately 20 years’ experience. John made the leap to full-time educator back in 2015 when he was the Associate Dean of General Studies at ITT Tech. In his current role as an Associate Co-op Coordinator for the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Co-op team, John advises students in their co-op search, partners with employers to help with their hiring needs, and teaches a career management course as well as project management. John enjoys sharing his project management knowledge with both his students and colleagues and finds the concepts and tools used helpful in his everyday activities. He currently partners (along with his students) with several non-profit organizations within Boston to assist with their project needs. John has a Master’s degree in Economics from SUNY – Albany and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science from Drew University. Besides the PMP, John also is a Certified Scrum Master and has the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certificate.

Service-Learning Project Focuses on Healthy Cultural Food Options Near Boston School
Students in a COE co-op course, led by John Bleakney, associate co-op coordinator, worked on a service learning project, the Cultural Nutrition Program, with the Afrimerican Culture Initiative, to explore healthy ethnic food options near Boston Preparatory School. Boston City Councilor Richard Arroyo presented the Afrimerican Culture Initiative with an official resolution commending the group’s ‘design and build’ of antiracist projects and initiatives.
