Sampling Frozen Specimens

MIE Associate Professor Jeff Ruberti was awarded a patent for developing “Systems, methods, and devices for frozen sample distribution”. Much of Dr. Ruberti's research is based on biomechanics. His patent allows for the removing of a frozen sample from a frozen specimen without the specimen having to be thawed.

VMM Intrusion Detection

ECE Professor David Kaeli and Associate Professor Jennifer Dy were awarded a patent for creating a Virtual Machine Monitor Based Intrusion Detection System. Dr. Kaeli leads the Northeastern University Computer Architecture Research Laboratory and his research is based on high-performance systems and software, while Dr. Dy has focused on developing algorithms for clustering data and improving support vector machines.

National Scholarship

Congratulations to IE junior Ashley Tokarz who was awarded the Dwight D. Gardner Scholarship by the Institute of Industrial Engineers. The $3K scholarship is granted to outstanding undergraduate students who are pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering. Students cannot directly apply for IIE scholarships, instead they must be nominated by department heads or faculty members.
