MIE Professor Hameed Metghalchi was selected as an Honorary Member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers “for distinguished services in promoting mechanical engineering through teaching, administrative and mentoring efforts; for contributions to the international community through research publications; and for sustained leadership in the Advanced Energy Systems Division of ASME’s Energy Resources Board.”
Metghalchi Selected as Honorary Fellow of International Society for Energy, Environment and Sustainability
MIE Professor Hameed Metghalchi was selected as an Honorary Fellow of the International Society for Energy, Environment and Sustainability for the class of 2020, for pioneer research and education in thermodynamics and combustion for the last four decades improving thermal system efficiency and effectiveness while reducing pollutant formation.
MIE Professor Hameed Metghalchi was awarded the 2019 ASME George Westinghouse Gold Medal “for 40 years of scientific research and educational efforts in the field of power generation, which have contributed to improved plant operation and efficiency, and reduced pollutants; and for successfully promoting the dissemination of research as editor of ASME’s Journal of Energy Resources Technology.”

As part of a $3.5M NSF grant led by Assistant Dean Richard Harris and MIE Professor Hameed Metghalchi, in collaboration with five other universities, a group of LSAMP Scholars participated for the first time in international research at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China.
