Jessica Ormsby: Hello 2020 graduates. As Nelson Mandela once said: “Education is the most powerful weapon that you can use to change the world.” I know that you are all prepared to make positive impacts and be the change agents our world needs. Congratulations and best of luck on your next journey.

I’m congratulating you from Humarock, Massachusetts near my home in Marshfield Massachusetts. And I’d like to share the beauty of the beach and the vast opportunities awaiting you in your lives. Ben Woolston: Hi, I’m Ben Woolston, assistant professor in chemical engineering. I just wanted to say a big congratulations to the class of 2020! We’re proud of all your accomplishments and can’t wait to see what you achieve after Northeastern. All the best and stay in touch.

Hugh McManus: Hi this is Professor McManus and congratulations to all of our graduates, with a particular shout-out my excellent Lean Concepts and senior capstone students. We overcame some very interesting times to finish as strong as any cohort that I’ve had the pleasure of teaching, so you should be proud of that, congratulations to all of you. Good luck on your lean journeys, success in your hero’s quest and I hope you all have a great life.

Ram Hariharan: Hi! There’s a saying that when the going gets tough, the tough gets going, and you have shown how tough you are. I wanted to congratulate you on your fantastic performance and please remember this too shall pass and out of this darkness a much brighter day will emerge. Stay true to yourself and keep doing what you have been doing and good luck and bye bye.

To all the 2020 electrical and computer engineering students, who I’ve had an opportunity to advise on co-op, or who have been in my classes over the years, I just wanted to say it has been a great pleasure to get to know you, and I wish you nothing but the best in your future careers post-graduation. Bahram Shafai: Hello, this is Professor Bahram Shafai and your capstone advisor, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all of your for receiving your well-deserved degree from Northeastern University. You should be very proud of yourselves and I’m sure that your family members feel the same way. Sorry that we could not get together and celebrate your graduation in a social gathering. However, perhaps this video clip would be a good replacement to congratulate you and wish you the best of luck. Again, I hope that we can soon see each other in the near future and celebrate in another time. Good luck and best wishes with full of success, health, and happiness.

Lorraine Mountain: Hello class of 2020, seniors and graduate students, I’m Lorraine Mountain, Assistant Dean for Co-op in the College of Engineering. Every spring, our co-op community looks forward to celebrating the accomplishments of our students in co-op, academics, and as leaders. You have worked across in industries in companies ranging from multi-national corporations to small start-ups, both locally and across the globe. Our engineering students positively impact our world and we are so proud. As is our tradition, we also celebrate our most outstanding co-op students each year. This year, we recognize and honor 14 undergraduate students and 3 graduate students in departmental engineering for their excellence in experiential learning. Look for their names and profiles in the COE Gazette and on our website. We look forward to staying in touch with all of you as you embark on your career as Northeastern Alums and can’t wait to see where your experiences will take you. Congrats to all our 2020 graduates.

Marilyn Minus: Hi everyone this is Professor Minus, Graduate Chair in the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department, and I just wanted to say congratulations to you all for all your graduate accomplishments. I know that your family and friends have also provided a lot of support from this journey so I also want to say congratulations to them. I really hope that wherever you are in the world right now we are very proud of you, we are very honored to be a part of your educational journey. And I wish you all the success as you go forward in building your career. I hope that while you were here, you were able to build a wonderful network of friends and support systems and also professional connections so that you can go on to do wonderful accomplishments. I also hope that while you were here you felt a sense of community in the mechanical and industrial engineering department and that you can take that with you going forward but also stay forever connected to this department. So whether your program was engineering management, energy systems, data analytics engineering, operations research, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering or robotics, we’re forever connected to you in the MIE department and we hope you feel connected to us, and we look forward to hearing all the wonderful things you’re going to do. So congratulations, I wish you the best, and hope you do very well.

Max Sederer: Northeastern BIOE and ChemE Class of 2020, what a wonderful accomplishment. No one could have predicted this could’ve been our reality. Luckily, as engineers, you a prepared to accept our new challenges and forge a path forward. May you overcome hurdles, build bridges, and solve the problems to make our tomorrow better than today. My best to you and yours. Congratulations.

Karen Kelley: I’d like to send you off with a quote from the Dalai Lama: “You have achieved your goal and now you’re ready to begin another chapter. Now you really start real life. Real life may be more complicated, it is bound to face some unhappy things, and hindrance and obstacles, complications. So it’s important to have determination and optimism and patience.” Today is a wonderful milestone for all of you. Keep learning, keep trying, keep accomplishing, and keep venturing on throughout your journey. Congratulations.
